Dear parents and families of incoming students,

We’re bringing you the weekly email with FYIs, due dates and other considerations for you as your student gets ever closer to beginning their Wake Forest experience. Here’s what you should know this week:

Registration reminders

Registration is this week! As a reminder, there are ample academic resources on the New Students website related to registration; urge your Deacs to read through all of the Planning for Registration information, as well as the Class Registration page, which has step-by-step registration instructions

Enroll or waive student health insurance coverage (required for all students every year) – starting July 15

  • Very important note: Every year, you must enroll in our student health insurance plan or waive coverage (i.e., you complete a waiver to show your student has acceptable insurance coverage through your policy). See details.
  • If you do not formally enroll or waive coverage, you will be charged for the WFU student insurance plan, even if you have sufficient coverage on your own policy.
  • You can enroll or waive coverage starting July 15.
    • If you do not formally enroll or waive coverage, you will be charged for the WFU student insurance plan, even if you have sufficient coverage on your own policy.
  • We are excited to announce our new policy will include (1) preventive dental visit and $200 vision allowance for hardware (glasses). This is the first time we have been able to offer these enhancements, and they come with an overall increase of only 0.8% over the current policy.
  • The cost will be $2,858.00 annually or $1,429.00 per semester. Have questions? Please call 336.758.4247 or email sip@wfu.edu for more information.

Our final Virtual New Student Reception will be held July 17

If you were not able to attend our Virtual New Student Reception on June 27 (or did not watch the recording), our second virtual reception will be held on July 17; sign up here. Note that it will be recorded and posted in the days following the event. You do not have to attend both virtual receptions, as the core content of the presentation will be largely the same.

Reminder: Fall tuition due August 1

Fall tuition statements were issued the first week of July; this means the bill is visible in DEAC. Please note that tuition must be paid by August 1; see payment methods.

Important: if your Deac has not made you an Authorized Payer yet, please encourage them to do so. It’s to their benefit to have someone else see when bills are due! This is also what allows us to speak with you about your student’s billing details.

Please continue reviewing all the sections of the New Families section of the New Students website

If you have not been working through the to-dos for your student’s start at Wake, please take a look at the Parents and Families section of the New Students website.

The main page is here, and the New Families Checklist is here. This is your go-to place for all the particulars of onboarding and preparing for your student’s start at college.

We also recommend you review all the sections of the Advice for Families page if you have not already started.

Parting thoughts

We’ll be back again on Tuesday with another update. Until then, if you missed anything, you can review our archived weekly messages here.

With best wishes,

Communications and External Relations (on behalf of Betsy Chapman)
