Need a little extra help? We’ve answered some of the questions new students ask most often.

You have questions. We have answers.

As you prepare to move into Wake Forest and begin your college journey, you may still have questions that haven’t been answered. We hope the information on this page provides the guidance you need. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to contact the campus office or department best suited to assist with your question.

When is move-in?

If you’re participating in a Pre-Orientation program, you’ll move in on Thursday, August 13, or Friday, August 14, depending on your program.

For those students not participating in Pre-Orientation, your move-in day is Tuesday, August 18.

Residence Life and Housing will assign your move-in time and share additional details before you arrive.

I’m participating in Pre-Orientation. What are my move-in options?

You have two options:

Pack light for Pre-Orientation. Bring just what you need for your program, then have your family bring the rest of your belongings when they return for New Deac Week on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
Move in completely. Bring everything with you on your Pre-Orientation move-in day. Your family can return to campus for New Deac Week programming on Aug. 18 without needing to help you move in.

Choose the option that works best for you and your family.

My Pre-Orientation program starts on a certain day. Do I move in that same day?

Yes! You’ll move in on the day your Pre-Orientation program begins. Each program schedule includes time for you to settle into your room before activities get underway.

Will I have enough time to move in before Pre-Orientation starts?

Yes. Most Pre-Orientation programs officially begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, August 14, giving you plenty of time to move in and get settled beforehand.

If you’re participating in Wilderness to Wake, your adventure begins the evening of Thursday, August 13.

When is Parents and Families Orientation?

Parents and families are invited to their own orientation experience on Tuesday, August 18, and Wednesday, August 19. Programming concludes the evening of August 19, giving families a chance to connect with campus before students continue their New Deac Week experience.

When will I hear whether I’ve been accepted into a Pre-Orientation program?

Acceptance notifications are sent on a rolling basis as each program reaches capacity.

Keep an eye on both the email address you used to apply and your Wake Forest email account. We also recommend checking your spam or junk folder and making sure you haven’t unsubscribed from emails sent through CVENT, our registration platform. That’s where you’ll receive important updates about your application.

Do I need to register for New Deac Week?

Nope! Every incoming student is automatically enrolled in New Deac Week. Since it’s a required part of your transition to Wake Forest, there’s nothing you need to sign up for—we’ll see you there.

What is a “welcome week” model for orientation?

At Wake Forest, orientation isn’t just a single event—it’s an entire week designed to help you start college with confidence.

During New Deac Week, you’ll meet other new students, get to know campus, discover the people and resources here to support you, and begin building your place in the Wake Forest community before classes begin.

Is New Deac Week required?

Yes. All incoming and transfer students are expected to participate in New Deac Week. It’s an important part of your transition to Wake Forest and is designed to help you build connections, learn about campus and prepare for a successful first semester.
