Resident Advisers welcome new first-year students to Johnson Hall.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you and your family to The Forest in August.

2026 Move-In Day Details

Students’ move-in date will depend on whether or not they participate in a Pre-Orientation program. Students who participate in a Pre-Orientation will move in a few days before students who don’t.

Later in the summer, we will provide links to a detailed Move-In Guide as well as the New Deac Week (Student Orientation) schedule. For all students except those moving in on August 13, they will be prompted to select a timeslot to move in. Additional information will begin to be available in early June.

For now, please pay attention to the following key dates and information, or visit the Incoming Students page on our Residence Life and Housing website.

Pre-Orientation Move-In

New Wake Forest students in the SPARC pre-orientation program work on a Habitat for Humanity house in Winston-Salem.

Thursday, August 13 – Friday, August 14

Students accepted to Pre-Orientation programs will receive their move-in instructions in mid-July after program enrollment from Residence Life and Housing.

Your Move-in Day depends on your plans:

  • August 13: Wilderness to Wake and Marching Band Pre-Orientations only
  • August 14: All other Pre-Orientation programs. Note: students moving in on August 14 will select a specific move-in time slot; they must move in within that timeframe.

If you will be flying to campus for move-in, we encourage families to wait to make firm travel plans until your students decide whether they want to participate in a Pre-Orientation program—and if so—receives their move-in date and time slot. If you make travel plans prior to notification of Pre-Orientation program acceptance and/or selection of a move-in time slot, consider booking options that are flexible or easily changed if needed.

First-Year/Transfer Student Move-In

All students must be moved in by 1 p.m.

When students receive their housing assignment over the summer, they will be given information on how to sign up for their move-in timeslot. Note: students moving in on August 18 will select a specific move-in time slot; they must move in within that timeframe.
