Typical Flow of a New Student Reception

New Student Receptions serve two purposes: 1) to help new students and families meet each other and make connections before school begins, and 2) to provide an opportunity for students or parents to ask questions of current students and staff.

New Student Receptions typically begin with a general reception and the opportunity to mix and mingle with other new students and parents, staff members, and current students.

Once the majority of guests have arrived, the WFU staff member will emcee a short program featuring current student panelists.  The current students will share some advice about how to get a good start at Wake Forest (academically, getting involved in activities, accessing resources if you ened them, etc.)

Following the student panel, we open up to the guests in attendance to ask their questions.

The WFU staff member will then close formal remarks, and encourage folks to continue visiting, or asking additional questions of specific students or staff members as needed.
